HE AGA KHAN UNIVERSITY Tanzania Institute of Higher Education Institute for Educational Development in East Africa (AKU-IED-EA) The Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, international University first established in 1983, with 13 teaching sites in 8 countries. It is a non-denominational institution open to all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, gender or national origin. Since 2001, AKU has offered academic programs in nursing, medicine and education for and in countries in East Africa. Successful candidates will work at the Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development in East Africa (IED-EA) based in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania The University is seeking applications for; Full Professors/Associate Professors/Assistant Professors/ Lecturers , In the areas shown below; 4. Language and Literacy In Education The successful candidate will have a background in linguistics, language education, literacy or applied linguistics with specialization in one of the following: • Application of linguistic theories and models in language use contexts; • Research in developing, implementing arid evaluating language/ literacy programs . • A knowledge also of assessment issues and preparedness to teach and supervise in this area would be an added advantage APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: NOTE: The successful candidates in these positions will be required to teach in the Institute's Graduate Programme as well as in short courses that are offered via the Institute's Centre for Life Long Learning. They will be expected to set and mark assignments as well as supervise students' research and dissertations. They will also be expected to participate in the preliminary plans of initiating a doctoral programme that the IED-EA plans to introduce.
