Job Summary: Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant provides accounting oversight for the JSI AIDSFree Tanzania Field Office. RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following: ? Work with AIDSFree staff to gather appropriate voucher documentation and enter transactions in QuickBooks. ? Review all accounting transactions before submission to the Finance Manager. ? Proper review and Cross Checking of vendors’ invoices to ensure there are no double payments. ? Review all travel advance requests and expense reports for accuracy and appropriate documentation. ? Monitor outstanding advances and take action as necessary. ? Provide financial and administrative support for meetings, conferences, workshops hosted by AIDSFree. ? Maintain all financial files including vouchers and procurement documentation. Participate on procurement committees as needed. Assist the Finance Manager on Monthly reconciliation and closing process. ? Support the Finance Manager on accounting and finance related tasks as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants for this position should be Tanzanian nationals or lawful residents who possess the following minimum qualifications: ? Bachelor’s degree or advanced Diploma in accounting, business management or related fields. ? At least 1 year of accounting and financial experience. ? Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles a must. ? Ability to prioritize, meets deadlines, and work on multiple tasks. ? Ability to provide audit trail within voucher documentation. ? Strong administrative and communication skills. ? Ability and desire to work well within a team. ? Ability to work independently, take responsibility, and follow-through on outstanding issues. ? Work experience with projects supported by an international organization a plus. ? Experience with USAID rules and regulations and / or other donor agencies a plus. ? Experience with QuickBooks accounting system a plus. ? Demonstrated intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite Application including Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Microsoft Word. ? English and Swahili fluency required (including speaking, writing, understanding, and reading and the ability to work with vendors, staff and stakeholders in both languages). ? Ability and willingness to travel within Tanzania. ? Must be able to maintain confidentiality for all project and staff proprietary matters.
