Key Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the Communications Specialist are to: ? Work closely with technical experts and project management to collect information on client activities to be used for reporting and success stories. ? Understand and ensure project compliance with USAID branding and marking requirements. ? Manage, draft, and distribute promotional and technical materials, including monthly bulletins, success stories, fact sheets, technical bulletins, and other documents. ? Draft and print marketing materials, signage, banners, and technical displays, as required to support the project and any related events. ? Ensure targeted, coherent, and consistent message to target audiences. ? Coordinate special events that highlight the project, including site selection, staging and logistical issues, invitations, press coordination, photography and promotional materials. ? Serve as point of contact for media requests, press releases, press kits, etc., in conjunction with USAID/Tanzania’s communications teams. ? In consultation with project management, assist with site visits of VIPs and USAID officials, including preparing briefing materials and logistics. ? Liaise with home office communications team to provide relevant materials for corporate communications. Qualifications The minimum qualifications for the Communications Specialist are: ? Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, international development, or a related field required. ? Minimum two (2) years of experience writing, editing, and preparing promotional materials, including basic desktop publishing. Experience working for USAID or in international development a plus. ? Highly skilled in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to work in an open, creative, multi-cultural atmosphere on time-sensitive projects. ? Capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously, independently, and to meet deadlines without compromising quality. ? Comfortable with basic photography and photo editing. ? Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communications. ? Ability to travel to remote locations. ? English fluency. ?
