Job Purpose: Analyze financial records and prepare financial reports, maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial information within HDT.
Job summary: Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, You will provide assistance to the department to ensure that Finance issues are in sync with HDT guidelines for finance management
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. General ledger and reconciliation
Maintain Ledgers of the organization financial records.
Produce annual and other periodical accounts promptly as per laid down schedule.
Prepare/Review Bank Reconciliations and make adjustments after approval of the Director of Finance and Executive Director.
Attend to queries and prepare reports needed by financial institutions, Donors, External Auditors etc.
Process payments by preparing payment vouchers and posting them in the cash book.
Ensure that the Organization control system of cheques, approval, etc. have been completed before payment, adjustment or receipt of funds.
Post transactions in the General Ledger, and maintain subsidiary ledgers.
Balance General ledger and extract trial balance.
Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register.
2. Maintaining salaries and returns
Prepare monthly data for salary processing.
Process loans, leave emoluments, etc. whenever required and prepare records for their recovery/clearance as appropriate.
Prepare PAYE, PPF/NSSF, TFTU, NIC, etc. returns monthly and ensure remittance of funds so deducted to appropriate parties.
3. Operating as cashier
Receive cash and cheques of the Organization and issue receipts accordingly.
Write cheques from payment vouchers which have been duly approved and issue them to appropriate parties concerned.
Write cash receipts.
Hold and maintain petty cash imprest of the Organization.
Carry out banking of the Organization’s revenues received according to laid down rules.
4. Supporting budget for programs and organization
Participate in the preparation of organization and programs budgets
Prepare budgetary control reports
5. Maintaining filing system for Finance office
6. Other duties as maybe reasonably assigned by line manager
Advanced diploma or degree in Accounting or finance with skills in accounting and store management.
Computer knowledge in excel Ms Word and Power Point is a prerequisite.
Good verbal and written communication
Fluent spoken and written English
