The Bank’s Chief- Retail Banking Mr Abdulmajid Nsekela said here on Wednesday that the institution will keep on introducing more innovations for swift and secure money transfers hence increasing business expansion and more players in the financial inclusion strategy.

In working on the agenda, NMB has opened two more branches in Igoma and Ilemela in Mwanza City, making it nine in the Central Business District, 13 branches in the region and total 224 branches countrywide.

“The Bank will keep on expanding its wings by opening more branches across the country, bringing services closer to the people and support various national strategies like industrialisation agenda by introducing special services to the industrial investors in the region and the Lake Zone at large,” he said.

Along with opening new branches, Mr Nsekela said the bank was committed to the wellbeing of the community after donating 10m/- for Igoma Health Centre and Shamaliwa Primary that will be supported with medical supplies and desks with each item 5m/- respectively.

So far, Mr Nsekela said around 1000 desks worth 100m/- have been dished out in the Lake Zone as part of the contribution in alleviating shortage of desks facing many schools.

Mwanza Regional Commissioner Mr John Mongela said due to the sharp migration of people to urban areas for economic opportunities, some parts in Mwanza City were already overpopulated.

He challenged NMB to tape that opportunity by opening more branches in those areas and commended it for opening branches in Igoma and Ilemela the two places with growing number of employees, small scale businesses and enterprises.

“That is an indication that our region particularly Mwanza City was sharply growing. In the last seven days I have officiated at the opening of seven branches of different banks and I am told many more are coming,” he said.

The RC said as the Bank with the government stake, NMB should be innovative and reach more populations to ensure financial inclusion since it was tasked to provide affordable schemes to the large segments of the government employees and taxpayers at large.
