This is why Dar Stock Exchange share indices closed on mixed trends

Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) indices closed on mixed trend Wednesday.

The market report shows DSE all share index (DSEI) decreased by 17.85 per cent to 2,351.7 points from 2,369.55 on Tuesday while Tanzania Share Index (TSI), which measures the performance of local firms, increased by 0.18 per cent to 4,180.08 points from 4,179.9 points.

The decrease in DSEI was a result of fall in share prices of Kenya cross listed companies including Kenya Airways by 2.08 per cent to Sh235 from Sh240 on Tuesday followed by East Africa Breweries Ltd by 1.59 per cent to Sh5,275 from Sh5,360 on Tuesday.

TSI increase resulted from stable share prices for local firms and increase in share prices for DSE by 1.16 per cent to Sh1,740 on Wednesday from Sh1,720 on Tuesday. A turnover of Sh131.95 million was reached from trading 25,509 shares in 23 deals, of which 22.58 per cent of shares were injected by locals.
