DAR ES SALAAM: FORTY Tanzania Immigration Department officers left the country yesterday for India to attend specialised training to build capacity in immigration matters.

The Acting India High Commissioner to Tanzania, Manoj Verma said while in India, the officials would also undergo training in information and communication technology (IT), especially in areas of cyber security.

During the event held at the Indian High Commission in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam on Sunday, Mr Verma said that the training would be conducted at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) in Mohali. He congratulated the participants for getting that opportunity.

Mr Verma expressed beliefs that the participants will return with advanced knowledge in IT matters, especially cyber security and thus, bring a positive impact within the Immigration Department and the entire nation.

“The availability of the training opportunities with funding from the government of India is the result of the visit of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to India in October 2023, where she met and held talks with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu at State House, New Delhi,” he said.

The representative of the Commissioner General of Immigration (CGI) in Tanzania, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI), Amiru Sadick, who is also the Acting Commissioner of Training, thanked the Indian High Commission in the country and the government of India for continuing to provide various training opportunities for immigration officers.

He said that the training programme is important because it will help to improve efficiency at the Department of Immigration and the nation as a whole along with strengthening the relationship and cooperation between Tanzania and India.

The Training Coordinator from the Immigration Training Division Headquarters, Immigration Inspector, Dr Hussein Namkambe said training programmes that build the capacity of the soldiers and officers have been a catalyst for positive performance results for the benefit of the nation.
