gital marketing to enhance flow of their goods to other countries.

The call was made in Bagamoyo on Friday during a working session organised by UNESCO on the preparation of roadmap for the implementation of the 2005 Convention in the Digital Environment.

Robert Mwampembwa a stakeholder in the culture and innovation sector urged innovators to be creative and utilise digital marketing to sell their goods instead of waiting for the government to do so.

Concurrently, he asked the government to come up with a digitalised mechanism to link all the sectors to enable regulatory authorities to operate without problems.

For her part, Angela Kilusungu from CDEA urged stakeholders to focus on online business saying digital marketing is taking shape and that there is need for utilising it effectively.

“One may simply have an Instagram page yet don’t post regularly about their goods and services. One must post regularly to create attention in the search engine where your business will stand tall whenever they search. One must respond on time, deliver on time and create a paying system that will not lead people to think you are a conman. Never ever tell a customer to go inbox once they ask for the price as that can kill your business,” stressed Kilusungu.

For his part, Gwamaka Mwabuka from Tai Animation studio called cultural officers and those responsible with the contractual issues to be fast in concluding discussion on potential contracts for Tanzanians to secure opportunities as failure to do so will see potential investors shift to other countries.

“We need a database where one can access contracts on trade, investment on tangible and intangible goods, services inclusive of international agreements between our country with others,” he said.

The Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions is a binding international legal instrument adopted in 2005 by the UNESCO General Conference.

The main objective of the Convention is to support sustainable systems of governance for culture achieve a balanced flow of cultural goods and services to increase mobility of artists and cultural professionals.

Other goals are to integrate culture in sustainable development frameworks as well as to promote human rights and fundamental freedom.

The session brought together stakeholders from the culture and creative industries from Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar.
