This was said in Dar es Salaam by the ABB Limited, Managing Director Mr Michael Olonya after opening the new office and workshop located along Nyerere Road that offer extensive array of product and services within power and automation technologies.

ABB is among the leading global technology company in power and automation that enables utility, industry and transport and infrastructure customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact.

He said ABB Limited is dealing with a range of high quality and global standards power and automation technologies that assure clients reliable services. “Gauging quality standards could play vital role in addressing importation of cheap and poor quality power and automation appliances causing heavy losses of properties and revenues,” he said.

He said apart from providing continued education on the need to manufacture and curbing imports of fake and substandard products, it is in the regulator’s realm to institute stern measures against importers or manufacturers violating the laws.

Mr Olonya said there is still huge potential in the sector that calls for more investment as more industries and buildings are continued to be built. The ABB Group of companies operates in roughly 100 countries and employs about 135,000 people.
