Capacity Building on Effective Abstract Writing and Presentation for Health Workers: A Success in Zanzibar

Tanzania Health Summit in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Zanzibar organized a two-day workshop focused on abstract writing and presentation capacity building for health workers from the Ministry of Health Zanzibar.

Workshop Overview
The Abstract Writing Workshop took place in Zanzibar from 16-17 March 2023 with the aim of enhancing participants' skills in crafting concise, coherent, and compelling abstracts for research papers, and conference presentations. The workshop was attended by 18 participants working in the health ministry in Zanzibar, who has various academic and research backgrounds.

We were honored to have the Minister for Health, Hon. Nassor Mazrui, grace the workshop as the guest of honor. His presence underscored the importance of research skills for health workers and the commitment of the Zanzibar government to improve healthcare service in the islands.

Outcomes and Feedback
The workshop was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the interactive learning experience and the opportunity to strengthen their scientific abstract writing and presentation skills. They expressed enthusiasm to apply the newly acquired knowledge and techniques in their work to
enhance the quality of healthcare in Zanzibar.

Future Initiatives and Collaborations
Encouraged by the success of this workshop, we plan to continue our capacity building efforts for health workers in Zanzibar and beyond. In collaboration with the MoH Zanzibar and other stakeholders, we aim to design and implement more programs that contribute to the professional development of health workers in research and improve healthcare outcomes.
