Value Adding Mill Manager

The Value Adding Mill (‘VAM’) Manager is responsible for the management of the value adding sections where products such as decking, flooring, panels and doors are produced. The VAM Manager will optimize workflow, operational costs, productivity and yield in the VAM. Responsibilities and Duties: Directing Production Staff Activities by managing approximately 40 members of staff in the VAM. • Control productivity targets, yield indicators and progress against orders. • Managing and overseeing Physical Production Budgets. • Identifying and rectifying operational problems within the production units. • Setting housekeeping and maintenance schedules for the production units. • Liaise with the Engineering Department and advise on Maintenance Requirements The VAM Manager will report to the Processing Manager of KVTC Requirements for both positions • Technical or Wood processing degree, ideally Bachelor in engineering. • Hands-on person, flexible. • Be computer literate and show a good understanding of process flows. • Experience of working in the forestry industry and/or Industrial working environments. • At least 3-5 years of experience in a technical or production role in agribusiness. • People management experience (managing large teams of labour). • Willing to relocate to rural setting. • The applicant must be fluent in English, reading and writing.
