TPSF Feb 2014 seminar springboard for private equity lobby formation

Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) in collaboration with TMS Consultants Limited will hold a ‘Think Big Seminar’ to motivate the private sector to introduce a grand plan to expand venture capital and private equity in the country.

The move would create an additional non bank source of investment financing for expansion, innovative and risky projects.

According to the organisers, the seminar will be held on February 6, 2014 in Dar es Salaam and will focus on creating awareness on how venture capital and private equity operate in Tanzania and internationally.

Further, it will include formation of national steering committee that will be tasked with organising venture capital and private equity in Tanzania- international conference to be held from November 25 to 28, 2014. The objective of this conference will be to establish the Tanzania Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (TAVCA).

Among the expected participants are business owners and entrepreneurs who want to think big, members of board of directors or governing councils including their chairpersons and executive directors, all about 200 direct members of TPSF.

Other are chief executive officers of commercial banks, development or investment banks, pension funds institutions, insurance companies, law firms and professional consultants in different business fields including regional branch managers.

TPSF will also invite CEOs from government institutions related with economic empowerment and investment including Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSDT) and National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC).
